The day started out slow for the sapphire shaded wolf. She woke to the rising sun, her paws delicately crossed before her muzzle in the moist sand of the cave floor. This cave was right by the water, and flooded with chest height briney water at high tide. It was perfect for the water dwelling femme who enjoyed the rush of the ocean against her fur. The sky was clear today, the rare white fluffy clouds reflected perfectly in the calm waters of the peninsula. Erimther stood by the mouth of her cave and stretched out, her maw stretching in a yawn, her back legs reaching outwards in a wide stretch. She had no plans for the day, and had not noted any new scents in the area so she felt relaxed at least for the time being.
The sun had just moved away from the center of the sky and Erimther could feel her tummy rumbling slightly. She had not had breakfast that morning, the idea of hunting just wasn't enticing enough at the time. Too much effort. And her store for the month was quite depleted. Rolling her eyes Erimther stood and meandered toward the lapping waves that reached up the shore only a body length from the cave. A cluster of rocks and coral to the right of her home was an excellent place for fishing, she had found. There were plenty of fish ranging in size from a snack to a few days' sustenance. There were also a few of those living-rock-shell creatures whose insides were slimy and unappealing bu the flesh was tasty even if it did take some time to get their shells open, a task which often resulted in many small cuts to the paw and muzzle of the offending wolf.
Erimther moved through the water with long delicate strokes, her flat tail trailing behind her, acting as her stabilizer and helping her to alter her direction at a moment's notice. Once at the cluster of rocks Erimther calmed her heartbeat, the better to catch the fish who could feel the large creature's beat in the vibration of the water. With a smooth dive Erimther submerged herself in the cool waters, her ears flat against her skull. The transition from lung to gill was ecstatic as ever. She could feel the water running along the flaps of flesh, could feel the cooler oxygen rush into her lungs and she smiled, aiming for a small brown fish that was foolish enough to leave it's coral hiding place.
